'Tuscany' began as a lilac blue painting with yellow ink dripped over it. I gravitated to warmer colours, using greens and corals. I did not have any imagery in mind, but felt the shape of my vertical brushstrokes lent themselves to forms which appear like Cypress trees, so I decided to play on that and translate it to an abstract Tuscan landscape. I like that the composition offers more than one horizon, that your eye follows the drips of ink, creating movement in the work.
I think 'Tuscany' would work really well as a focal point in a living area. It creates a soothing mood and allows your imagination to wander. The blues at the top and bottom of the painting were tricky to photograph. I would say they are more of a cornflower blue in person, see video footage.
