acrylic and ink on linen canvas

19.68 x 15.74" / 50 x 40cm

This painting is an exploration of the colour copper, I wanted to see how it would respond with other colours. The brushstrokes and ink entwine like branches. They soar upwards with energy and warmth.  The Abstract Expressionist Clyfford Still and colour field painter Morris Louis were two of my early influences.  When I was making this piece, some of the elements reminded me of Louis' paintings.
